A guide to wheelchair

It is important to note that, if you use a wheelchair, you are entitled to special seating and other accommodations during air travel. The Department of Transportation states that all carriers that operate flights into and out of the U.S. provide priority boarding for people with disabilities including those who use wheelchairs. Furthermore, each airline must designate an employee to assist passengers with disabilities before boarding and upon deplaning the plane . Depending on your condition, it may be beneficial to call ahead and make arrangements to discuss your needs with an airline representative before flying.

Today, the wheelchair has become the modern standard means of mobility for people around the world. Whether it’s used temporarily to help people recover from an injury or used long-term due to physical disabilities, the wheelchair has become one of the most important tools for movement for people who are otherwise unable to walk. Before you decide to look into possibly needing a wheelchair, however, there are several things you should first consider.

Using a wheelchair isn’t quite like riding a bike, but the basic principles are the same. (Although I do wish you could get out of them more quickly…) There are, however, some key differences that will be helpful to keep in mind while you start making your plans to get your first one.
